Complete Renovation & Extension – Luxembourg Ville
Complete Renovation of a detached house including rear extension, thermal refurbishment, and custom interior fitting. A radical transformation of an existing structure into a contemporary, energy-efficient family home. This project involved heavy structural work to open up the living spaces, a cubic rear extension, and a complete aesthetic overhaul connecting the interior to the garden.
The Challenge
The primary challenge was the complex structural modification of an older masonry building. As seen in the construction phase, the project required the demolition of the rear load-bearing walls to accommodate a new cubic extension. The goal was to maintain the structural integrity of the original stone/block building while creating a modern, open-plan layout. Additionally, the project required a seamless integration of modern energy systems (Heat Pump) and high-performance insulation on a facade that mixes old and new substrates.
Our Solution
We managed the project from heavy demolition to the final coat of paint. Structural & Extension: We constructed a robust concrete block extension with steel reinforcement to create a spacious living and dining area. Indoor-Outdoor Flow: We installed large-format sliding glass doors (Aluminum profile) and matched the exterior terrace tiles with the interior flooring, creating a 'limitless' visual transition between the living room and the garden. Energy Efficiency: The house received full external wall insulation (EIFS) with a modern crépi finish, new double-glazed windows, and an air-to-water heat pump system. Custom Interiors: The highlight is the custom-made monochromatic kitchen with a central island and a bespoke room divider/TV unit that zones the open space without closing it off. Measurable Outcomes: Significant upgrade in energy class, +35m² usable living space, and high-grade glazing for acoustic comfort.
